Heavy Equipment Service Tech

Reports to: Service Manager

Job Purpose/Performance Outputs:

Performs assembly, repair and testing of heavy equipment including mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems as well as transmissions to required specifications of customers, vendors and company standards.

Essential Functions Performed:

• Assemble components per drawings and supplied standards
• Troubleshoots, repairs, rebuild and tests various related equipment
• Attends training sessions required for vendor updates and new products
• Responsible for following & working to required safety & housekeeping rules, guidelines, policies
• Maintains shop equipment and tools in proper working order, including equipment PM schedules
• Maintains required work records of repairs, rebuild and testing
• Maintains sensitivity to CRM

• Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and diesel aptitude and knowledge, capable of a wide range of troubleshooting, testing and rebuilding of engines transmissions and heavy equipment
• Blue Print reading capability
• Knowledge of material handling equipment, including fork lifts, hand lifts, and overhead cranes
• Knowledge of welding and metal cutting operations and equipment
• Knowledge of equipment instrumentation and gages and testing processes
• Attention to detail
• Knowledge of required safety and housekeeping rules, guidelines and policies
• Technical Translation of mechanical product & repair documents & customer, vendor specifications
• Communication skills, verbal and listening and phone skills
